~ The Story So Far ~

Ikura was a miserable baby.Before he could speak, all he did was cry. He cried whenever anyone touched him, he cried harder whenever anyone looked at him. Curiously, in both instances, shortly after his initial cries, Ikura would go into a deep trance-like state for varying lengths of time, babbling in baby-talk, though in an odd, serene tone. His parents couldn't explain it. The doctors suggested that he was possessed by some sort of kami, yokai or even perhaps some poor yurei, unhappy with the afterlife. No sort of cleansing ritual - and there were many - ever seemed to work, however.As he grew up and learned to speak and conduct himself as a young person, he was very clear - he did not want to be touched - more specifically, on his hands - and he did not want to meet anyone's gaze. He tried to explain it a few times, but the adults in the room were lost in confusion at his muddled attempts. Because of this, he became a timid, stammering shadow of a boy.It was around adulthood when the headaches began. The longer he ignored them, and what he was called to do, the heavier and more painful they became until it was as if there was a thunderstorm raging in his head, until his task was finally complete.Never able to settle in one place, he now travels the world, seeking out his targets. Some are more... cooperative than others, but he does as he must, regardless of how much he despises the vile compulsions.
